Following the success of the UK show, Rankin’s Eyescapes exhibition is due to open in his LA gallery in a few week’s time.
The launch coincides with the release of a range of Swatch watches that Rankin designed for the brand, using images from the exhibition.
Rankin says ‘The photographs depict eyes in extreme closeup, at which point they take on the undulating and expansive qualities of a landscape photograph. Eyes are my favourite part of the body. Eyes, and getting the best out of them, are my stock-in-trade as a portrait photographer – I am constantly saying to subjects, ’smile with your eyes’.
